Day 10: South Dakota

Hooray...another National Park sign! Oooo...the Wind Cave. The Wind Cave was formed by water seeping into the limestone, combining with CO2 and dissolving the walls. Kinda like how soda would rip a hole in your body...if it sat there for millions of years.
Shannon...in a cave.
Nathaniel loves guided tours.

Handrails kinda take the adventure out of being 200 feet down in a scary cave.
Graffiti from August 17...1882! After the cave was found, a local 16 year old boy would take people down into the cave and they would write their names on the wall.
Stone bats.
Nathaniel is excited about the hike, but not about his "after a nap" hair-do.
On top of Lover's Leap. A Native American story describes how a young couple was in love but they couldn't be together so they jumped of this rock face. They should have just taken a horse and a small tipi and hit the road.

Shannon is standing in front of the lodge we stayed at the previous two nights in the Custer State Park. Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Dwight Eisenhower stayed here while they were in office. I knew it! Our room totally smelled like old President.
